At English Al Fresco, we believe that language learning is about more than textbooks and tests – it’s about connection, confidence, and real conversations in real places.
We offer a fresh approach to learning English: immersive, small-group experiences that take place in inspiring outdoor settings. Our sessions are designed for adult learners who want to improve their English in a relaxed, natural, and engaging way – far from the pressure of the traditional classroom.
What makes us different is our personal touch. We keep our group sizes small – so you’ll never feel lost in the crowd. This intimate setup means you get the time, attention, and encouragement you need to grow. You won’t just memorise grammar rules – you’ll use English to hike, chat, laugh, and explore with others from around the world.
Every trip is designed to feel welcoming and inclusive. Whether you’re looking to build your speaking confidence, practise in a real-world setting, or simply meet new people while improving your English, you’ll find a place here.
We’ve seen first-hand how powerful it is when learning becomes something you live, not just study. And we’re here to support you every step of the way – with kindness, encouragement, and plenty of fresh air.
Hi, I’m Garry – founder of English Al Fresco. I started this project in February 2022 with a simple goal: to make learning English more natural, more personal, and a lot more enjoyable.
I’ve been teaching English to adults for many years across different countries and cultures. I hold a higher TEFL qualification and have worked with learners of all levels. But over time, I realised that the most powerful learning doesn’t always happen in a classroom – it happens through real conversations, in real places, with real people.
That’s why I decided to combine my passion for teaching with my love of nature. I believe that people learn faster, feel more relaxed, and connect more deeply when they’re outdoors. Fresh air, movement, and meaningful conversation – it’s a combination that helps both language skills and confidence grow.
Originally from the small city of Chester in the north of England, I also spent three years living in London. I’ve now travelled to over 135 countries, and those experiences continue to shape how I teach and connect with others. Outside of teaching, I’m a keen photographer, cyclist, and runner – and always up for an adventure.
I look forward to welcoming you on one of our courses, learning more about your story, and helping you take your English to the next level – step by step, word by word, and all in the fresh air.
