THURSDAY - ARRIVAL IN EDINBURGH

Edinburgh Airport

MEETING POINT - EDINBURGH AIRPORT

You can arrive at any time between 1-7pm on the first day and we’ll be waiting for you. We know you all have different flights/trains so we are flexible. If you need help searching for flights just let us know!

If you are flying to Scotland then the most convenient place to fly is Edinburgh Airport (Turnhouse EDI). From the terminal you can take a short walk to the car park where we’ll be waiting for you.

If you’re arriving at the train station we can meet you at Haymarket. It’s just outside the city centre and easy to reach from all stations in the UK.

THURSDAY - QUEENSFERRY

Queensferry Tour

QUEENSFERRY TOUR

The pretty former Royal Burgh of Queensferry sits on the shore on the outskirts of Edinburgh. It is linked to the ancient Kingdom of Fife by three bridges over the River Forth.

Ranked the UK’s second prettiest town by The Telegraph (2023), South Queensferry is rich in history with plenty to see and do on both land and water.

Wander the cobbled streets (which are actually granite setts) of the town to soak up the atmosphere of bygone days, sample a wee beer at the Ferry Brewery, and visit one of the shoreside cafes and restaurants to sit and admire the Forth Bridges in all their glory.

THURSDAY - TO THE HOUSE

DRIVE HOME

After spending time in Queensferry we will drive back to the house where you’ll be staying during the course. We are located in the beautiful village of Moffat which is a beautiful drive through the mountains. If you want to find it on Google Maps you can search ‘Moffat Independent Hostel‘. You can also see a full video tour of the house pinned to our Instagram page.

Take your time to settle in to your new home. When you’re ready we’ll have a welcome dinner so we can all get to know each other a bit better and discuss the plans for the next days.

FRIDAY - NATIONAL PARK

Lomond

GREY MARE'S TAIL

After a big breakfast together at the house we’ll head to the beautiful Grey Mare’s National Park.

We’ll see one of the UK’s highest waterfalls. The nature is wild and it feels very unique to Scotland. This one is great for Instagram!

We will also see Mary’s Loch which is a beautiful lake. If you’re lucky you might even see a monster! There will be a picnic lunch with a great view and some hot tea.

Time for home. In the evenings we have a home cooked dinner and afterwards play some board games, chat and sometimes watch a movie.

EDINBURGH CITY TOUR

Edinburgh, the enchanting capital of Scotland, is a must-visit destination that seamlessly blends history, culture, and natural beauty. With its iconic Edinburgh Castle perched atop an ancient volcano, the historic Royal Mile, and stunning Georgian and Victorian architecture, the city is a treasure trove of historical and architectural wonders.

Edinburgh’s cultural scene is vibrant and diverse, offering world-class festivals, museums, galleries, and theaters. The city is home to the famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a celebration of the arts that draws talent and spectators from around the globe. For those seeking natural beauty, Arthur’s Seat and Holyrood Park provide a serene escape right in the heart of the city.

Whether you’re exploring the medieval Old Town, savouring Scotch whisky at a local distillery, or taking in panoramic views from Calton Hill, Edinburgh promises a remarkable journey filled with history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.

Here there is also a chance to try the traditional local food, Haggis. If it’s not for you then there is also a tasty vegan option available.

Then it’s back to the house for a much needed home cooked meal and games.

SUNDAY - TRADITIONAL SCOTLAND

Local Pub

VILLAGES, CULTURE & LOCAL PEOPLE

Today we will discover a bit more about local life in Scotland. Visiting the village we live in is a good opportunity to meet the locals and check out the handmade products in small shops.

The oldest whisky distillery in Scotland is located nearby and we have the option to take a guided tour and have a little try.

There area also some beautiful nature walks along the river surrounded by forest.

As well as that we have a beautiful fire in our lounge so feel free to relax your legs after all the walking in the previous days!

In the evening we can visit a cosy pub and see how the locals enjoy their free time. It’s also a good time to try some British food!

MONDAY - DEPARTURE DAY

THE FINAL DAY

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. After an action packed trip it’s time to leave Scotland.

We will take you back to the airport at whatever time you need to make your flight or train on time.

If there is still time after breakfast we can go for a walk in the nearby forest. It’s a green area where you can often see wildlife such as deer, rabbits, badgers and hedgehogs.

Scotland is a wonderful experience and we will show you a mix of nature, history, culture and local life. You will also meet new friends on the course and get more confidence speaking English!
