Nestled in the heart of Berkshire, England, is a charming and vibrant town with a rich history and a modern, cosmopolitan atmosphere. This historic town, situated along the serene River Thames, offers a delightful blend of cultural, recreational, and natural attractions.

One of Reading’s prominent features is its picturesque riverside setting, perfect for leisurely strolls and boat trips. The town’s historic roots are evident in landmarks like Reading Abbey, which dates back to the 12th century, and the ancient Reading School, founded in 1125. However, Reading has also evolved into a bustling commercial and technological hub, housing the renowned University of Reading and being home to numerous high-tech businesses.

If you’re a fan of the TV series Downtown Abbey you might recognise a few places where filming took place. It’s also near the home of author, Jane Austin.

SOUTH ENGLAND NATIONAL PARK

After a big breakfast together at the house we’ll head to the one of the National Parks. There are many choices in this area but our personal favourites are Seven Sisters and New Forest.

We’ll make a small stop in a traditional English village called Lyndhurst. It’s a great place to stretch the legs and grab a hot drink.

Then we’ll continue to the starting point for one of the walks.  We always find a beautiful spot for a picnic and some warm tea on our way. The views are always great and perfect for that ideal Instagram shot!

Time for home. In the evenings we have a home cooked dinner and afterwards play some board games, chat and sometimes watch a movie.
